rule of instant Karma, or is it just we live by the fear of it - he he. We know it is instant, as you have seen in a short time here so we try not to do anything that the Balinese Universe will punish us for.
We have used the sticky paper as well, only when the dogs and cats decided the rats were more fun to play with than kill.
Rats grow up in rice fields and rice is sacred, so Balinese wont kill one just because its annoying you, they'll kill animals to eat but bad karma to kill a rat if you don't want to eat it, best to let the animals do that or have a ceremony to ask the rats to leave. One village last year had such a problem with rats they killed 1000's of them and then had a cremation ceremony for them to send on their souls to heaven.
