I find that the majority of smokers walk out of restaurants, even in Bali, and appreciate that. Just becaue it is commonly accepted in SE Asia doesn't mean it is not extremely bad manners. I firmly believe it's a bit like if you and your partner both eat a lot of garlic, neither of you will smell it on the other the next day. If one only has chomped into the pungent cloves then then they can really smell the other!!!
Therefore my feeling is that smokers just don't realise how unpleasant side stream smoke is for non smokers. Aside from this smoking is nobody's business but the smoker himself.
