There are a few European books written early in the 20th century, but these may be of no interest to some.
There are also some early pieces detailing the part played by a Danish trader (Mads Lange) in settling differences between Balinese Rajas and the Dutch, and also introducing the Kepeng as coinage into Bali.
His grave can now be seen near the river in South Kuta, just off the by-pass Rd.
There are other much lighter books describing more modern day Bali, including expat life etc.
