At home we usually use a standard CBA mastercard.
When my lovely wife went to the bank yesterday to get cash, they talked her into getting the money on a CBA 'Tavel money' card.
This is apparently like a debit card which you can use for transactions (in restaurants, etc) or at ATM's to draw out money.
After looking into it, I was sending her back today to return the card, and get cash or traveller's cheques.
BUT... if this is the rate you are getting out of ATM's on the street, maybe we should just keep what we have (the 'Travel money' card, with $2,000AU put onto it), and use that? I guess we would get the same rate out of the machine if we use the travel card, or our standard mastercard (linked to our normal cheque account... not doing a cash advance which cost interest straight away.)
Hope all this makes sense!
In a nutshell, do we keep the CBA Travel card, loaded with $2,000 and use that, or send it back and use our regular Mastercard?
My main worry is getting a cr*p transaction rate out of the hole in the wall, and not being able to do anything about it...
Thanks!
