we prefer self-contained accomm within a hotel with our 6 year old daughter who is an only child and always looking for other kids to play with. In Sanur we have only really found Villa Puri Ayu to meet our requirements. Although it is not big, we have always been lucky enough to have other kids around to keep Miss 6 company.
The Novotel at Nusa Dua would work well for you if you stayed in a 2br apartment. Very popular with families and they have a kitchen where you could prepare meals. My 6yo loved it as there were kids galore in the pool and kids club.
I seem to remember reading a review here of a villa in Sanur where you also had use of an adjoining hotel's pool - could be an option with the best of both worlds?
