Wednesday 1st August
Today is the second to last day of our holiday. Everyone is frantically shopping getting all those last purchases. So we head to Diane's, Ricka's (another fixed priced shop just before Diane's)and we buy enough Dvd's to sink a battleship. Our son (who is Autsitic) was not happy about the loud music in the dvd shop and even though the girls turned the music down the damage was done. He really didn't want to be there so I sat outside with him, my miss10 and F3 miss10 were also with me. After a while we decided to go back to the hotel but stop off at Discovery Mall for some Bread Talk for lunch. Walking down the stairs we hear, "Wait a minute girls, why you walk so fast??" Thinking it's a stallholder trying to get the two little misses into his shop I swing around ready to rip him another Ahole. For hassling two girls. Only to see it's my hubby playing a practical joke. He tells me I looked very scary though.
Across the road from BGH before you get to the Bali Brumby taylor is a small massage parlour that F3 mum and dad visited almost daily for a foot rub (they tell me it was heavenly, personally I hate people touching my feet). Anyway I popped in there because suprise suprise F3 mum was in there again and somehow she convinced me to have ear candling done. Don't know how I feel about it still but it was interesting. Mind you F3 dad decided he was hilarious when I came out and he saw me instead of talking he was just mouthing words. Hello I can hear the TV behind you. Idiot. He thought he was histerical.
Dinner that night was at the Hotels Boardwalk Cafe. The food is really good and each night they have different entertainment. That night it was a lad doing bartending tricks with bottles of alcohol on fire and two women with hula hoops alight and other bits and pieces. It really is a great spot the hotel has done a great job with the resturant. The pizza's were my son's favourite.
Thursday 2nd
Our last day. We go home tonight at 1am. We have actually kept our room and paid for an extra night. That way we don't have to clear our stuff out till just before we leave for the airport. Doing this makes our son feel more comfortable and it's great for packing last minute shopping. My miss10 and F3 miss11 go to the ladies on the beach and have their hair re-braided in school coloured beads and while there I buy two prints/paintings. I've often wanted to do this but on the forum I've read how pic's crack. So I didn't want to spend a great deal of money but I got two great prints for 350,000rp. Not sure if that's a good price or not as I've never bought any before and paid no attendtion to what people have written on the forum.
At 2pm Wayan comes to pick us up and we head off to The Royal Temple, Monkey Forrest and Tanah Lot. The Royal Temple was beautiful and the gardens were just immaculate. It's incredible on how they keep it so well. This made my hubby talk of the gardening he had waiting for him at home. Heading to the Monkey Forrest I was disgussing to my hubby how our son will not like the monkeys running all around him and I might just stay with him in the bus. F1 mum overheard my comments and with speed she couldn't keep up with she's offering to stay in the bus. Saying' "oh, you so like monkeys, I'll stay behind. You go, enjoy the monkeys. I'll stay in the bus, really I don't mind at all, we'll be fine. Off you go" It was hilarious. Natually she stayed with our son and we walked amongst the monkeys. They now have a little swimming pool, it was amazing to watch them climb up a pretend tree and jump off into the water. They were having an absolute ball. It was great to watch.
After the monkey forrest we went onto Tanah Lot. Again our son had had enough so I stayed with him while the others walked down and enjoyed the temple. Well I can never say, "No" to the little kids selling things as people are walking by. Sitting with my son they soon understood I was a sitting duck and came one after the other selling all sorts of things. I bought one of everything. When everyone came back they all gave me a hard time about buying everything but as I said I just can't do it.
Back at the hotel we do our last minute packing and then next door
to the Batan Waru. One last time......'sign'
Getting to the airport was easy, customs just as easy. We board the plane and my son falls asleep instantly. The plane is not full and hubby is on his own so as soon as we take off miss10 jumps to his seat, spreads out and is asleep in an instant.
We arrive in Adelaide amongst thick fog. I have to wake my son, it is a freezing 7*C. Our flight was the last allowed to land before they divert them to Melbourne. Thank Goodness. Customs were wonderful. Our son was lying on the ground and an officer asks if he's unwell. We explain his Autism and she fast tracks us thru. In the line to declare all our things. Another customs officer approaches us and again she takes us to the front of the line. It was so wonderful to get that little extra help.
Home Sweet Home
Bali is a wonderful place to visit but I still love coming home.
While we were away I had a gardener come in without hubby's knowledge. He was lost for words when he finally noticed the backyard. A well kept secret by everyone. Everyone knew but him. I even told our neighbours so they wouldn't think we're being robbed. They've actually hired him for their yard.
Thanks for reading, the forum is a wonderful thing...
Till next time
