Laid up like a larrakin on Lembongan.

So here I lay with a compressed lower spine waiting to be able to bend beyond the waist. Nothing time, strong drugs and some stretches won't fix.

The day went like this. Normal continental breakfast on the balcony watching the blue sky take over. Then it was off on our trusty mopeds to explore Nusa Lembongan.

Over the yellow one lane bridge to Ceningan Island and out to the Blue Lagoon Cliff Jump. There were already Aussies gathering to plunge 13m from the top jump. It was deep and nobody was coming up injured. What the heck, I have bungy jumped before and jumped off the 10m divers tower at the Hobart Pool as a kid, ........ thought I might as well give it ago. After all the wife and kids were watching and we were Tassie family number three on-site. There was national pride at stake here.

Having signed the obligatory waver and paid my RP50 000, there I stood on the 13m platform being counted down by the small crowd selecting a nice landing area in the 11m deep sea below.
Three, two one, and leap. Whoopee this is fun. I even executed a nice pin drop entry. It was on splashdown though that I felt the crunch in my lower back. Uh oh, that didn't sound right. Immediately I could feel my back muscles tightening into a ball and screaming, 'you di@#head, you 41 not 14'. With the help of adrenalin I climbed back up the ladder wincing in pain. Time to go ove, needing some pain relief here. The ride back was a herculean effort helped by Little Miss Nine who gently massaged the sore spot. I walked like an invalid robot up to our villa and collapsed on the floor doing my best python impersonation. Geez, ...... I'm in trouble here, wonder if there is a clause in the travel insurance for acts of stupidity?.

Our panadol was helped by some friends who came to my aid with a 200mg tablet of kickass pain relief. After that kicked in I went into shutdown mode and slept for an hour.

I can now walk to the fridge to get a cold pack but reaching beyond my waist gives me a decent twang. This all goes to debunk the myth that Dads are indestructible.

Anyway my wife has auditioned today for a starring role in 'the good wife', She has provided words of comfort when usually devoid of compassion as I constantly donk my head. She has walked over to Lembongan Cliff Villas and cancelled our booking transfer there tomorrow and booked us in another two nights here at LIBVs. She even brought me back a Magnum Ice-cream and is now out trying to score me some legal drugs. Ah, .... new I married her for a reason.
