We went off on an expedition there this morning. I've been going ever since it opened.
Originally there was a nice little market in the puzzlingly named Seminyak Square, then the flea market sprang up and took over.
Maybe we just got them on a bad day, but the prices were absolutly insulting. them, and they were quite aggressive.
For a little girls plain tiny bag, worth about 12,000, the opening price was over 350,000.
Another item, worth 10 to 20,000 was started out the same.
We just couldn't be bothered to deal with them.
We then saw two young girls, buying a 50,000 necklace for 300,000.
Now, that's good luck to the seller. BUT, $50 US note.
The seller was SO kind, he was willing to change it for her. He was giving her 300,000 for a $50 us note... That's generosity for you!
I mentioned it to a local friend who said it's becoming notorious for that level of theft and bad behaviour.
It was very sad to see.
First time we've ever left without buying anything.
