YOu can get a train from JKT to Bandung but might be a long hard ride... If you are travelling with others then a private bemo like you get in Bali would be best and I belive goes at about 700.000rp per person.
There are tour buses too.. You have tomake a rest stop and there were just heaps of buses there so looks pretty organised.
There were 7 of us so we had a package so the guys who took us there and around stayed there over night to take us back.
We stayed at the Roayal Grand Hotel Preanger but the partner hotel Grand Hotel Preanger was great and cheaper - we were upgraded from one to the other as the first one was doing a pool reno. There are a heap of others and all are central to the shopping. All the hotels can tell you where to go and give you a guide and you can either get a driver for the day OR taxi as is cheap like Bali.
If were me doing this trip over and I am coming from Quensland I'd fly to Singapore with the new one Scoot then onto Bandung then after Bandung bus or private driver down through Jakarta - stop there for about 4 - 5 hours to shop THEN fly on to Bali. Then I'd take a direct flight after Bali home.
