For anybody who read my posts prior to leaving on Fri,11th May,as a Fencing contractor I was "lucky enough" to smack myself in the mouth with a fistfull of crowbar and instantly undid a lot of the good work that Dr. Rudy had done for me back in Nov, '07. Back then I had 10 root canals and had every tooth left in my head crowned and a 6 tooth bridge top dead centre. This is what I had busted. A week before going I rang Dr.Rudy's and LaLa gave me an appointment for Monday 14th.
Flew Virgin, sat on the tarmac for an hour before the pilot came out and said it was just a loose wire on a computer. I thought to myself "I hope they kept the technician on the plane". The flight over (and back) was very smooth and uneventful and we landed about an hour late.
Arrived at Bakung Sari Hotel and quite surprised that it was virtually on par with the Barong where I stayed last time, but the Barong was about double the price now and I was only paying $30 a night for Bakung Sari. Breakfast was simple but sufficient(toast, eggs, pancakes, tea/coffee). I visited the Barong to see the reno,s but apart from the stage set up at the front pool I didn't notice much else.(didn't look in any rooms) I thought maybe they are going after a younger crowd like the Bounty.
I felt that the streets were not very busy but the traders were still trying hard to get you to look and I was still offered lots of "woman" and "Viagra" and got annoyed because they were usually offered in the same sentence.(I don't think I look that old).
My first visit back to Dr. Rudy was quite nerve racking as when he took a gander in my mouth he said if there was any damage under the gumline I would not be able to have the bridge replaced but would need a denture on a plate. I told him that that would not be an option and he said I would need to be very lucky. I replied that what went in my mouth had to stay in my mouth and said that I was feeling lucky. After cutting the old bridge into pieces to get it out I was so relieved to here him say, "This IS your lucky day". Whew! @ hours later he had performed another root canal to fix one of the posts that I had smacked loose and done impressions and other stuff, he asked me when I was going home and I said I was booked to fly out on the following Sat.19th. He said I would possobly need to stay for a few more days as the new bridge would not come back to him until the Sat. afternoon. As it turned out, it walked in the door at the same time I did, at 5pm. Dr.Rudy's concern was the bridge may have to go back to the Lab. if it didn't fit properly and I would need to come back the next week for another "fitting". I did not see Dr. rudy on my 2nd visit but was attended by one of the ladies. Luckily she was able to do minimal grinding for a good fit and so after 2 visits and approx. 4-5 hours the new hardware was installed and I was "re-toothed"and good to go. I worked out that I probably could have gotten back to the hotel, packed my stuff and made the flight with about half an hour to spare. But I had rebooked to leave on the Wed. 23rd. so I arrived back to Melb. just before 6am. on Thurs. morning and went straight to bed as not I ,or anybody else on the plane, was able to get a wink of sleep. That's it for the "dental' part of my trip, except to say that once again Dr. Rudy is a "Bona fide genius".
Cost -19.5 mill Rupiah, approx. $2100. I can't help but compare to what it might have cost in time and money here! More later. Billthefencer.
