I had all my root canal work done at home, since it is covered by my private health insurance and I got a good chunk of it back in rebates. The crown itself, however, was not covered by my private cover and was going to cost me a minimum of $2000 at home.
I got the porcelain crown for around $350 done by Dr Rudy, so a nice 3 week holiday plus the dental work cost me not a lot more than the price I would have paid for just the crown at home.
There had been plenty of time in between to ensure there was no danger of infection from the root canal before the tooth was crowned.
