I'm flying out to Bali on Sunday evening, arriving in Denpasar at 9pm. I was originally booked with AirAsia, but as they pulled out of Darwin they rebooked me with Jetstar. They haven't booked my return flight though so I'm not sure at this point how I'll be returning!
I'm travelling with my little brother, who's flying up from Sydney. He's a Bali virgin, while I was there for 2 weeks last year on my first visit.
I'm actually trying to cover 5 countries in 2 weeks, so we'll only have 2 full days (3 nights) in Bali on the way in, then another 1 full day (2 nights) on the way back. I'd like to try and fit in as much as I can for my brother, and am looking for ideas.
1. given we arrivat at 9pm, I figure we won't be able to check in until a around 10.30-11pm on Sunday night. After that I'd like to go to a restaurant and get something to eat, before heading out to take him drinking through Skygarden/Bounty etc.
We'll be staying in Legian, does anyone know of any good, not too expensive restaurants that would be open around then and there? I'm tempted to try Wari Walung which I passed so many times during my last visit but never actually went into, but dunno if they'd be open at that point. Even if they were, I'd rather order my food for the next time as I hear from this forum it's best to order certain dishes at least a day in advance. Would Mozarella by the Sea be open that late?
2. Are there any reliable money changers open that late at night?
3. We have 2 full days in Bali, Monday and Tuesday. I have Tuesday planned in that in the morning we'll check out of our hotel in Legian, and catch a cab to Ayana Resort near Jimbaran Bay, where I have a hotel booked. Leave our luggage there, then get a ride to Uluwatu for a couple hours then back to the hotel. Stay in the hotel, enjoy the 5 star goodness, and then at 4pm head to the Rock Bar till Sunset drinking cocktails. Then go have dinner somewhere (not decided yet).
That kind of leaves Monday open, any suggestions on how you would introduce someone to Bali in one day? I'll book him for a hotel massage early in the morning. Sights, shopping and food? Any ideas at all would be welcome!
