days to come back is that they have missed the point, probably due to lack of experience with tropical diseases. Had the same experience ourselves with dengue already diagnosed in Bali then returning here and they tested again but 10 days later told us "Yes it's Dengue". Well, thank you but this we knew. What was needed was a test for blood clotting factor or low Heam. due to bleeding internally and the result was needed in hours not days!!!
He was lucky and did not have a bleeding problem but not everyone is so lucky and this can be very dangerous. He was not allowed to leave Bali to fly home until they had tested to see it was safe to do so. The results took 2 hours. Should have been ongoing testing for this once home.
