The rooms on the path down to the beach have not been renovated and are as you described.
We were given room 240 last week, it was horrible.
I went back to reception to ask if there were any others.
We were moved to 278 which are the stand alone rooms along the drive way behind the wall. It had been renovated and was great for us.
It was completely different to the first room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return in September. Sorry your experience wasn't pleasant and I can understand why!
