Sorry, each to their own, but there was no way you could ever say the rooms were similar. The renovated room was 100% better than the hotel block one.
I would be very very disappointed if someone gave me a recommendation to stay in the older rooms. It did smell musty/ moldy. They other room was great and we were very happy to spend 10 nights in it.
We will return in September.
