Encounter on poppies 1 with what we were later told was a Javanese lady. (I don't tknow what the real difference is, was just told that the Javanese are more aggressive that the Balinese)so I put it down to that. It was our first trip and I was very wary of everything. Held my kids hands, told them not to talk to anyone on the street for fear of getting suckered into a high price sale or a tour somewhere. We were walking from the beach along poppies 1 to try to find the bagus bar we had heard of and as we walked past a stall there were a bunch of ladies calling out to get hair braids. Once they spotted my 12 year old with hair to her butt they started calling out to her to get her hair braided. When I said the taught "tidak terimah kasih" (apologies doe any wrong spelling) no thanks we kept walking. I was waking in front of her holding her hand and one of the younger ladies skipped up to her unbeknownced to me and grabbed her hand and pulled her back jerking me back in the process.
I saw red. No one touches my kids. I raised my voice and told her I said no thank you. They sported a bit of abuse to our away and we kept on going.
This I must say has been the ONLY incident I have EVER encountered on poppies 1 or 2. We walked through poppies 1 past the same girls for the rest of our 2 week trip and nothing else happened.I reckon she was just having a bad day.
I was more concerned that my credit card was flogged from matahari's.
