We use poppies 1 and 2 all the time. Never had a problem. In November 2011 and Feb 2012 were our two last trips. Never seen or heard an agressive trader. (not as bad as you say anyway) Bought a variety on Poppies 1. Thongs, dvd's, kids singlets, running shoes. all different shops both visits.
We go to sanur once or twice a trip and find the Sanur Beach markets only second to Kintamani in regards to arrogant traders. Last time we ate at a restaurant and left. Couldn't handle the hassle.
Relax, they deal with tourists every day and can pick out someone they can get to bite and they love every minute.
