1) - Our thoughts are that if we stay at home afraid to travel then the terrorists win. We continue to travel as a family wherever we want to go and continue to enjoy our lives
2) - I have a son who has has stomach issues since he was small, he went to Bali once and ended up with Dysentry yet stayed and ate at all the same places we did (he was 9 at the time and is 19 now). Our 2 youngest kids started going to Bali at 18 months & 3 years old respectively. Our last trip in Feb they were 4 and 7. They have never had so much as a whiff of problems any trip. They were bathed in Milton baths when small, showered with careful observation to minimise water swallowing and used bottled water for everything else.

We stay in Legian so probably aren't much help for you - stayed at Beach Melati Apartments last time.
You say that you are not taking a stroller - I think you are a crazy person. We would have had an awful trip without one and it was an absolute god send - I would re-think this one!
