Hi Helen....We have just returned last week from Lombok and Gili T...I have been a bit slack about putting anything on here as I am trying to recover? from Dengue Fever which my doctor says I more than likely got in Lombok....this has been the holiday that just keeps on giving haha I am getting there I think...
Anyway we had 2 nights on Lombok and 2 nights on Gili T...as we only had a small amount of time on each we flew to Lombok with Lion Air that I had booked myself before we left-cost about $36? each and each way..you also pay a small departure amount when you leave Bali at the airport-cant remember how much it was maybe about $10..??
We stayed at Jeeva Klui resort which was reallly beautiful and we could not fault the place-we arranged to have the hotel pick us up from airport...There are people doing the usual haggling to get you with them but we werent sure so arranged thru hotel and had to pay-They said because this new airport is so far away-it was easy hour to hour half drive-so bit of a distance they all charge a pick up now...Not too bad a drive tho and gets you a bit of a look around...Our hotel guy had a lovely car and wter and OJ for us also..
We didnt do too much in Lombok...went down town Sengiggi-just got the hotel to call us a cab..I think we were about 5-6kms out of town and went to the Art Markets...We would go back again as there would be a few things now that we would like to do....There is a Stick fighting trip that sounded pretty interesting and also apparently they can take you to wash your face and drink from "the fountain of youth" hmmmm Im up for anything if it helps hahaha....Was plenty of eating places down town..we taxi in and back at night and was only few bucks..At our resort it had a private beach and was really lovely so spent time just chilling there..
We then caught a little "local ferry" over to Gili..which was a bit of a scary trip as we had rotten weather (all the Fast boats we cancelled due to bad seas!!) but Gili was lovely altho it rained most of our time but really beautiful water color and lovely to see Lombok sitting right there-altho we didnt see it until last day-weather was crap!!
We stayed at Vila Ombak-next time we would staay at Scallywags-we checked out these rooms and they were lovely and found we ended up there often for meals and drinks anyway..
Both places definatly worht going to but not during wet season...We had a really scary boat ride back with swell higher than our little boat--we laughing about it now but we were all a little worried at the time-we just kept telling ourselves that The drive KNEW what he was doing hahahaha!!!!
Take mozzie spray!!!!!
Cheers to you
