of travelling with budget airlines. I too travel with AA and it is my choice because I like the price and find the flight experience itself to be good. However this kind of thing can and does happen not infrequently and will cause inconvenience. You will find that if they transfer you to a flight you really don't like they will do their best to re-book you on one that you do like maybe the day before or whatever which of course doesn't help you if work commitments or something stops you from going a day earlier.
In my experience it is little use getting upset because that will not re-instate a cancelled flight so if you can manage to just go with the flow and not stress the situation will resolve itself in the same way but you will feel better.
