You mentioned an ongoing claim for loss of income etc. I'd be interested to hear who you are insured with that covers you once you get back to Australia, including loss of income? standard travel insurance normally only covers you while you are away. Once you get back you have to use other insurances to help out with medical costs and have income protection if you can't work.
