My last trip was for 90 days (return ticket 90 days after arrival)
Also had the same query as I intended to just apply for the 60 day visa & then extend in Bali
Indonesian Consulate in Perth advised that as the date on return ticket was more than the 60 days I would need to apply for a social visa - which I did.
Even though you can extend the 60 day visa in Bali (fingerprints & photos needed on the first extension), the consulate may or may not initially grant it because of the dates on the tickets
