as one of the "boorish" clients of SBVs I didn't recommend it to you because it is not in keeping with what you are asking for. I notice none of the other "boorish" guests from the very lovely little hotel known as SBVs have jumped in (yet) to recommend it on this thread either.
If you were looking for a budget property with great ambiance and where you will always find interesting guests from ALL walks of life (repeat ALL WALKS OF LIFE)then I would recommend it most highly. I only became a "friend of the management" when I first stayed there and enjoyed it greatly so no, actually I don't recommend it because of mateship. I recommend it (most highly) because I love staying there.
Actually I agree with the hotels Berluspony suggests for you. However I think you should beware of anything Berluspony has to say about SBVs since he appears to have an axe to grind about this property. In fact I think he/she is even more boring than me on this subject.
I hope you have a lovely time in Sanur. Perhaps you might like to try Bamboo Shoots Bali cooking school which is great fun and runs out of SBVs. If you do or if you decide to stick your head in the gate and have a look (Jln. Tirta Empul, Mertasari. Very near to Mertasari Beach.) perhaps you would be kind enough to post your own impartial impressions on on this forum.
This post is brought to you by a self confessed friend of the owners of SBVs and while I think about it The Ugly Duckling/Ducks Nutz (Music most nights plus Sunday afternoon and some lovely Indonesian food (Do yourself a favour and try the Balinese Chicken if you like spicy food) Good Pub food for the members of your group who like western food and......(drum roll)......the very best cheesecake my husband has eaten in a long time! Would not suggest the accommodation for your group either but if anyone is looking for a budget central Sanur hotel I most definitely would recommend the Ugly Duckling.
Well I am off now (have to go to my support group for people who use too may brackets and exclamation marks!!!)
Dedicated to Berluspony with thanks to him for bringing up the subject of SBVs.
