Hello dear forumites...
With Christmas and New Years now a fading memory, I have turned my mind to our up and coming Bali holiday... 11 days to go!
The biggest, most important and most intense decision to be made before we go relates to the one item that I have decided simply MUST travel with us this time.... pool noodles.
If you recall, I spent three weeks in May of this year searching Bali from stem to stern for a pool noodle with no luck! With the shuffle, stop speed of our shopping expeditions, aunty calling up from the rear whenever anything vaguely floaty like appeared (she once pointed out a bin filled with rubber duckys), and the ever dwindling enthusiasm of the troops, it was disasterous!!!
So this time I have three full sized, never before used, ready to go pool noodles waiting for their first overseas trip. My main concern now is how to tranport them and do I want to share three noodles between 7 people or should I stock up on more!?!?
I am aware, after my earlier efforts, that pool noodles are a highly sought after, and much desired item in Bali... with many tourists willing to pay exorbitant fees for even 6 inches of noodle (a shocking site I discovered at our final hotel was these poor nubbins of foam floaties!). As such, I have decided to purchase a cheap stroller in Perth to tie the pool noodles too.
I figure a light fingered tourist, or business minded Balinese person is less likely to rob a child of their preferred mode of tranportation, just for the chance at the sublime bliss that is pool noodle ownership. Of course, I could be wrong... given my desperation at the end of our last vacation I may have risked a childs wrath for the joy of a brightly coloured foam temptress.
So I have a stroller which will figure predominantly within the cushy confines of pool noodle heaven. Do I tie it all together with cable ties, easily cut through, but non-residue leaving.. or do I risk sticky pool noodles, and encase my precious bundle with masking tape.
This is not a decision to make lightly!!!
As for the rest of the packing... ummm... errr... hehehe.. hmmm.. I'll worry about that later!
Take care!
