We drove from Legian to Lovina via Candi Dasa and east coast last August. Almost all of the east coast roads were resurfaced and terrific to drive on. Hopefully top end is completed now. It was a great adventure. We stopped at Tirtagadding water temple then overnight at the lovely Poinciana resort north of Tulumben. The Les waterfall is worth the walk and there is a lovely house to rent up the track (for one couple, 200,000rp per night).
We stayed at Dolphin Apartments in Lovina/Kalibukbuk and its gorgeous there!
We drove back south via Kintamani as we were staying in Ubud and the road was far more interesting and less traffic than via Bedugal.
