great fun , we normally start in kuta stay there for 2-3 days ,buy some dvd movies to watch when you want to chillout they are not readily available when you leave kuta area, then we usally head to north to lovina going past lake beraton which is a crator on a volcano for 3-4 days ,very relaxing ,try villa agung for accomodation, top location small very friendly, from here do trips to verious waterfalls there is a hotel with a zoo in it where you can swim with dolphins ,dolphin watching trip etc .if you need a contact for a guide let me know, then head east and stop at tulumben previously accomodation here was a bit rough but there are a couple of higher class motels now, stop here so can go for a dive on ww2 wreck the liberty in the morning and then head east to ahmed, very scenic top place to go snorkelling stay maybe 1-2 nights follow the coast road south east around the mountain to candi dasa stay 1-2 days must try hot dog shop there say hi to gary very funny person good for any travell questions ,from here head south west to sanur on the way a good overnight stay is the zoo ,then back to kuta where we do our shopping for a couple of days , The roads are generally pritty good you do get the odd pothole and gravel on the road just take it easy ,there are plenty of fuel stops and accomadation has never been an issue ,with 4 couples should be able to barter a good rate,we use a backpack around 70 liter size for a suitcase as it fits nicly in the front part of an automatic bike, wont fit on the manual type ,this rout i found is handy as we found the numb bum sets in after a few long stints so we do them first and leave the shorter stints for the way back ,would not recomend going west to gilimanuk long way poor accomadation not much there, all in all we found the bike the best way to go youl have a ball, just make sure you have the international licence or it might cost a few bribes on the way. A good street atlas is the periplus bali street atlas bought mine at centro but might be available on ebay highly recomend this book
