We used to have to fly from Wellington to Auckland, stay overnight then catch the early morning Garuda Auckland/Brisbane/ Denpasar flight.
Much more pleasant for us now to go Wellington/Brisbane/Denpasar.
Long flights are annoying but instantly forgotten when you touch down and make your way out of the sirport into the heat and smells of Bali.
Arriving at 3 in the afternoon gives you virtually a day of stiocking up, having a cold beer and nasi goreng and starting to lock in Bali time.
