Auckland was only good for Aucklanders. For those of us in Shake city it's much easier and quicker to fly via Sydney or brisbane than to put up with the old Garuda running late so you miss your connection again. That missed connection wait and then another hour 20 to get home was a killer.
Going to be very difficult to get customers anywhere south of Palmerston North to fly to Auckland to join a Garuda flight when other one stop prices are so much cheaper.
