I too have wanted to try durian for years- i found some when i lived in cardiff in a chinese shop but it was £30 for it at the time coz it was a speciality import! hadn't come across another one since until i got to Bali! i tried some last week- we got 4 bits in a tray in Carrefour and i was nervous trying it- but actually i thought it was ok! the aftertaste was better- the texture is odd but id defo try again- thing is 2 of the pieces were nice and 2 were rancid in the tray!! it all depends on how fresh and ripe the fruit is apparantly! so sometimes it could just be a bad one! fair play at least you tried it! now ive got a bag of mangosteins in my fridge over a week and i still haven't tried them!! i have no idea what to expect for the taste!
