G'day HB

A lot of the plastic bags come from the back end of PT Suwung (Rubbish Tip) in Sanur. This fine facility backs onto the harbour and the mountains of plastic bags....up to 7 meters deep in places when I was last there.... are washed into the harbour by rain and tide. From here they will find there way around the island depending on the wind, waves and tidal action, to help them on their way.

Some locals will tell you that the rubbish is from Java....the reality is that we tourists probably contribute quite a bit of it.

Next time someone offers you a plastic bag to carry something that is already in a plastic bag.....think of the beaches in Bali.

One small effort each in a year contributes so much to the future.

If you must use plastic bags....give them a second life and hand all your bags back to a vendor before you leave Bali.
Every second use is one that wont be made.

Food for thought...not aimed at you HB ;-)....just in general
