I have no evidence to suggest that crime is on the rise having never been expsoed to it in Bali, over the last 25 years of visiting.
However 2 of the younger generation of our group were the subject of thefts two weeks ago.
Both occurred late at night on separate occasions and both in the nighclub district.
One of them had his phone stolen form his back pocket whilst dancing, and the other, a 20 year old woman had her wallet stolen from her shoulder bag whilst being distracted by a group trying to sell her drugs as she left the Bounty.
So long as the details given to the police were sketchy and not specific and the appropriate administration fee paid, a report suitable for a travel insurance claim was available.
