What is said is true, but maybe not for a VERY small percentage of the 'orphanages' that operate in Bali.
It is a well known fact that when visitors go to an 'orphanage', the establishment is aware of this before they come, and kids are 'recruited' in from the village. i have heard a story about some of my colleagues visiting an orphanage, and one of them overheard one of the kids say 'when do we have to cry?'.
Whilst i DO feel for kids from poor families who live in these places, the majority of administrators should be rounded up and thrown into similar living conditions in which they place the kids under their care.
