The last 2 times they have requested my credit card number -which I just email them as well and I think last time I booked - for easter April 2012 they have charged my credit card a deposit amount ( I will double check this on my bills closer to departure) - but I have to say I'm not worried -I will work it out when we get there
I always take copies of emails with me to confirm booking etc
