As said before, buy alcohol after you go thru customs in Aust and take it on as hand luggage but remember, you are only supposed to take 1 litre into Bali, per person. Having sid that, many forumites will tell stories of smuggling in excess grog in suitcases or being open about it & A. risking getting caught and B. then paying a bribe to Bali customs and all the risks involved in THAT!
