Sorry....but I covered your point completely...you're either choosing not to see it or simply don't understand.
I do pay for it...the same as you...the Fat Cats will be there whether or not this kid commits a crime.
The very reason these consular staff are there is to help Australian Citizens in that, or any, country when they are in need.
Did you think they were there only to help people that lose their passports?
Yes many of us do struggle to keep a roof over our heads on a day to day basis. We have a wonderful system that helps to alleviate that via Social Security. This kind of help does not and should not stop when one of our citizens crosses the border.
Again...it's what makes for great countries.
And might I add...the day that, God forbid, you or yours are in need.....we'll all be there...still paying our bit and not begrudging you for a moment.
