Finally found the time to write about a wonderful week spent with 5 girlfriends. Normally go with hubby and the 3 kids, so this time was all about shopping, eating and the occasional cocktail !!!!!!
After a delayed Jestar flight we finally arrived in Bali.
Stayed at O-CE-N Outrigger in a 3 bedroom Ocean View Penthouse for the week. Penthouse was wonderful- the outdoor area was huge and we had our own jacuzzi.
Great ocean view with lots of lounges/chairs.
Penthouse was split level with 3 bedrooms down the bottom and the living area and kitchen on top.
This hotel is very open-you can see into everyone's rooms and onto their balconies!
Pool was deep and had limited lounges. This resort lacked the central pool area that other resorts often have! Breakfast was included in our deal and was lovely.
RESTAURANTS/BARS
NERO BALI (Kuta/Legian)- One of my favourite- Called in for lunch and had the mezze platter and strawberry frozen dacquaris-YUM
SEASIDE (Seminyak-Beachside) First time here- Large menu to choose from- Fajitas were good value.
ULTIMO (Seminyak) As usual a great night- All meals fantastic and the girls voted the best Frozen Strawberry Dacquaris in Bali- Had a few and somehow we all made it back to our hotel!
SARONG (Seminyak) WOW Just delightful food. Paid $75 AUD pp (most I've ever spent on a meal in Bali) but the quality was worth it- Lovely atmosphere- Had to book 5 days in advance and could only get a 9pm booking!
MYKONOS (Seminyak) Cheap meal- I prefer to just order the dips/bread and that fills me up- nice cocktails, Mains meals were just OK.
ECHO BEACH SUNDAY BEACH BBQ Caught a taxi out here- seems like the middle of nowhere- arrived about 5pm and managed to get one of the last tables.
Had lobster ($30AUD) and they cooked my choice and brought it to the table- lovely sunset- great atmosphere- fantastic staff.
Just about to leave a few hours later and the DJ put on some great songs-Mixture of young crowd, families and us (the 40+ girls) Finished at 11pm. Will defintely visit again.
ROCK BAR- 3 of us decided to go to Ayana Villas. Took about 55 minutes (I think about 100,000 Rph one way).
Resort grounds are large and you make your way to the steps down to the "glass lift".
7 people at a time are shuttled down the cliff to the Rock Bar.
WOW What views! Lots of platforms jutting out over the ocean- Cocktails are pricey
(About $15AUD). Had a couple and some yummy calamari whilst watching an amazing sunset!! Well worth the visit
BIKU TEA HOUSE- Had reception book this for us about 5 days prior. Arrived about 1pm for High Tea ($10 AUD pp) Lovely little snacks
We also organised Tarot Reading ($10AUD PP)- Interesting- a few of the girls readings were spot on!!!!
I will visit again with my 5 yo daughter next time- Gorgeous place to visit with the girls-
We had such a lovely afternoon.
COCOON (Double 6 beachside) Called in here for a few hours when everyone else was off shopping- They have huge comfy lounges overlooking the small pool.
The lovely attendant looked after me- fluffing my pillows, laying down my towel,
getting me yummy cocktails and calamari (I do love my calamari).
Spent a few hours here relaxing- $40 well spent
FUN TIMES FOR THE 40+ GIRLS
WATERBOM- Well I've been to Waterbom about a dozen times over the years-
Normally watching the kids, minding the bags, taking happy snaps of everyone else!!!!!
Well this time it's different- All 6 girls running about (with our wobbly bits wobbling everywhere!!!! ) and laughing so hard and egging each other to go on each and every slide!
Had a wonderful 2 for 1 massage at the Spa there near reception.
Beware though the one size fits all little disposable pants they give you do not cover 40+ girlies backsides!!
DOLPHINS AT SANUR- Booked this before we went to Bali ($69 USD pp).
Picked us up-quite organised.
Got a boat out to the pontoon where we met Pluto (Our dolphin for the next 50 minutes)
It was fantastic! Staff member had all 6 cameras snapping away-
funniest moment was when a pair of sunglasses were thrown into the ocean and Pluto dived underneath and came up wearing the glasses- Couldn't believe our eyes.
Soon our week away from the husbands and kids was coming to an end.
Newbies did the last minute shopping thing -filling the suitcases.
Then 5 hours later offloading the excess luggage to some old Balinese friends.
Converted the newbies- all will be back next year with their families
Been travelling to Bali since 1987- Done the single thing, married thing, family holiday and now the trip to Bali with High School friends! So glad we did it!!!
