Just back yesterday and missing Bali already.......
Flew AA on Friday 16 September, great flight. Through the airport within about 15 mins and then off to the Kusnadi Hotel.
Kusnadi - well, what can I say??? It was simply perfect! We had room 110, poolside. The bungalow only had one room ground floor and one first storey (ours was first storey). It was beautiful. We had a verandah on two sides of the room. I was'nt expecting too much from the Kusnadi, I knew the gardens and pool area were nice as I had walked through there last year but was a little concerned what the room would be like (thanks to all who gave me their opinions on here recently). The room was a generous size, bathroom also a generous size and both were super clean. There was'nt anything about the room to complain about whatsoever, just loved it! Linens and towels were lovely and clean and fresh, room was cleaned well every day. Breakfast was really nice, choice of three hot dishes every morning (eggs any way also available), plus pastries, fruit etc. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and we really felt at home there. At $44 per night I was'nt expecting much at all but was so pleasantly suprised. The room rates are increasing shortly (not sure when??) The Superior room is now 390 000rp, this will be increasing to 550 000rp - still excellent value. Another guest at the pool told my husband the price of the rooms were doubling and the Kusnadi would be outpricing itself (as with anything it always pays to get the facts straight from the horses mouth so to speak - I asked at reception). This hotel is perfect for couples or families.
Did'nt do much at all this holiday, read 6 books, had heaps of massages at Briella Spa (my favourite, have been going here for about 4 years). I did have a couple of massages at the hotel, these were wonderful and only 80 000rp for an hour.
Restaurants - Lanai is a good as ever, Blue Ocean on our last night, it was okay, nothing to rave about. Tried a new restaurant - Monsoon - this is on Rum Jungle Rd, just near Kusnadi and it was beautiful. Very nice decor, extremely cheap and lovely staff. My favourite meal there was the Sumatran Fish Cakes, simply delicious and only 25 000rp. This restaurant is well worth a try, only been open for a few months but really good. We also ate at the Kusnadi restaurant, delicious meals and very well priced, best Nasi Goreng we have ever had.
Shopping - did'nt buy much, this holiday was mostly a relaxing one. Bought some lovely little girls dresses for my nieces, as well as all the usual t-shirts, shorts etc for my sons.
Have to wait until June 2012 for my next holiday, one with my sister and friends this time, staying at Kumala Pantai (already booked lol).
Thanks.
