We didn't arrive until after dark for our dinner there either. A few of us met up earlier on the beach and had sunset drinks at one of the beach bars before walking up to the restaurant. Our booking was for 7pm so it was already dark when we got there. You could still hear the ocean though, and the stars overhead and ocean breeze was nice as well.

Pretty much any restaurant you go to, you won't see much of the beach itself after dark anyway. And all the restaurants along this stretch have a quiet and not busy road between them and the beach so you're not actually fronting the sand directly.

It was also nice walking back along the beach after the meal was over.

I know any restaurant can be hit and miss. I had lunch at Seaside a couple of weeks before the 40th party, on the day I went there to make the reservation and organise the cake etc. I ate downstairs, as upstairs is only open at night. The seafood nasi goreng was fantastic. On the night, I think we ended up with about a dozen of us in total and not a bad meal among them. I had the surf & turf which was brilliant, and other meals covered all parts of the menu, mexican, Indo, steaks etc and all were great.

Nobody in our group had ever eaten at Seaside before aside from myself, so I was a bit nervous having made the choice of restaurants, but everyone thanked me for picking a great place as far as food and atmosphere.
