Hi all. What's the go with the prepaid credit cards proliferating throughout shopping centers in Australia? (I found my local woolworths supermarket here in broome displaying their in house prepaid mastercard this evening.)

Are they a viable alternative to say travelex? Have used cash, cc, travelex before. But i was nearly caught out when I needed to exceed daily withdrawal limit on travelex (basically had to change accommodation due to mrs timbo not keen to share bedroom with rats (happy with me, but draws the line at rodents))
I don't like to use my normal cc and never my debit card.
Likewise not keen to carry $au10k with me as this trip have only paid small deposits and need accom money and spending money in country.

Perhaps these new prepaid cc's are the way to go. Has anyone done the research about fees, limits etc? Thanks.
