confuses me. IME, twenty years ago Kuta was a lot wilder and a lot more drunken than you see today. There was barely a football team playing in Australia whose end of year trip didn't head straight for Bali and pub crawls and drinking games were the go. Dancing on the bar was a pre-requisite for a good time and Waterbom Park wasn't a family venue but where everyone went to lose their hangovers. My observation is that since the bombings, Kuta (apart from the traffic) has slowed down a lot, holidaying families are more evident and tourists are a lot more interested in culture activities.
