I have found the service in good hotels and restaurants in Bali to be excellent, on the whole. I actually prefer the discreet, low-key Balinese approach to the smart-arse 'great personality' approach so common in Melbourne.
Traffic aside, I think Bali gets better every year, but then I go for a luxury experience, not an authentic one.
