Hi There
Have just returned from my first time in Bali and can't wait to go back but beware. On arriving at airport I was suddenly swamped by porters who very politely carried my bags and showed me the money changers and as I am an 'older' traveller I became a bit flustered with all the noise and attention and when given my money was very quickly told to hand over 200,000.00 Rup for services rendered. Having no idea exactly how much in $AUD that was, I obligingly did so. It wasn't until I was met by a family member who is a regular to Bali that I realised I had been fleeced well and truly. I know it is a poor country but Aussies go there and spend up big with their hard earned dollars (myself included). I will not be so trusting a second time. More time researching beforehand makes for a better experience.
