Why do you think airlines stipulate what luggage amounts each passenger can carry??? Its all about weight you selfish person! Each person can ONLY take 23kgs check-in, and 7kgs carry-on. I'm sure you know that. Any more must be checked in and paid for at the rate of USD$15/kg. I know, because I've had to pay it. That's the rules! The captain knows how many passengers are boarded. Each passenger (or Pax as they are called), is 80kgs. Many of us are already over-weight before we even sit down! Plus the 23kgs check-in plus the 7KGS of carry-on. And YES a passenger in my Virgin flight back to Oz last week asked a male cabin crew member to help her carry HER carry-on down the aisle and put it in the o/head locker for her. He picked it up and said "sorry, this will have to be checked in as its too heavy for the o/head. It was off loaded, missing her flight and was sent on a later flight! It does happen. Never heard of aircraft being too heavy for take-off?? I'm sure you have seen Air Crash Investigations. Consider this. If each greedy/selfish passenger did what you intend to do,the aircraft would be 100s of Kgs over take-off limits. So glad I'm not flying to your destination you selfish uncaring individual.
