Can you imagine if that 15kg bag falls from your grasp as you attempt to lug it into the overhead locker, it falls onto a fellow passengers head. I have seen this happen and the passenger has been left with lasting back and neck pain as a result.

Bernier's question was regarding Virgin Australia, not Westjet, which allows 7kg as carry on. Bernier, you may be able to carry on your 15kg, but you may have it taken off you at the aircraft door. How do I know this?? I am your friendly cabin crew who is there to look after your safety. I have oflloaded many oversize and too heavy cabin bags.

I'm not trying be rude or argumentative and Sherbert is probably right, you will likely be able to sneak your excess baggage on but you really shouldn't.

Anyway, good luck and enjoy your trip.
