When my now 24yo son went to the States alone 5 years ago to stay with his Godparents in Park City, Utah I freaked. He survived LA & Vegas alone - loved it all. Like you seem to be, he's sensible & careful. I would by far prefer my only child to go to Bali alone than to America.
