We have stayed at the HRH several times and will be back there in sept for a week.
We think the rooms are clean but nothing special. but we dont holiday to stay in our rooms and the facilities certainly make up for them. The pool is the best pool we have ever been to and we love renting the huts over the pool a few times whilst we are there. We have always taken our bags down to the pool with nibblies and buy drinks next door at circle k for the time we are in the pool. We do buy lunch when we have the cabana by ordering over the private pool phone. The kids love the pool and my hubby the pool bar. Yes its expensive bali standards but comparable to aussie prices.
Most meals we have an array of options so close by from kuta central and walking down towards either tuban or legian. After the included buffet you dont feel much like lunch most days anyway as it has soooooo much great food on offer.
Its so close to shopping and there are great spas nearby( i have paid once in the HRH but never again.
Yes its not a traditional balinese experience but the staff are all balinese and are as nice as anywhere else.
Cant comment on the other hotel as havnt stayed there.
My children 14 11 5 and 18 months will all have a great stay in sept after travelling around for 3 weeks before our final week at HRH.
