SANUR. First 3 nights at Inna Grand Bali Beach Hotel- Dont waste your time on this hotel.I have stayed there twice previously and was very dissapointed this time. Service was pathetic, staff not interested in ýou unless you were 'ásian'. Very run down establishment now. Place constantly overrun with 'seminars/graduations'. I wont stay there again.
Next 7 nights at Hyatt Bali with Arendevouz Tours. Hotel was absolutely fabulous. Staff were wonderful and it was worth every cent.Excellent breakfast, nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful 5 star hotel. Great postion on the beach and easy walking distance to all the shops and Hardies Supermarket.
LEGIAN. Next 7 nights at Legian Beach Hotel. Service was pretty average, towels were appalling and the first room they gave me was the room from hell - very dirty and right near the main road. But finally was given a better room.
Staff were mostly very average, but I stay in this hotel due to its great position on the beach and easy shopping access to Garlic Lane. Also brekky is pretty good and you can eat sitting up near the beach watching all the beachlife, surfers etc.
Interesting experiences. Had a great massage at Healing Hands in the main drag at Sanur, except they managed to accidently hide my dress so when it came time to get dressed all I could find was a towel. My dress was eventually found on a little shelf under the massage table that was covered by the sheet hanging down. Good clean massage rooms, airconditioned and all for 6000rph. Excellent value.
Hardies was fascinating, but dont try and buy shoes unless you are a 39 or less. Also purchased sim card from the girls on the third floor. Great. Called Oz for 6000rph per minute.
Arendevouz tours based in Sydney was great. Check out the website if you are interested in Singles Travel. This 7 days included bike ride down through the paddy fields of Ubud - great eyeopener. Snorkeling at somewhere - sorry cant remember. A temple visit complete eith stealing monkeys and Kekcak Dancers. Dinners every night at places like Potato Head Beach Club, Coccoon, Charming & Cinnamon (Sanur absolutely great places to eat and very cheap), Seafood BBQ on Jimbarran Beach and lots of other excellent activities.
Also had my hair straightened at Spa directly opposite Galic Lane end (have feet feeding fish out the front) by Andi - cost 500,000rph. Best $50 I have spent. Boots (bit too large however) made at Galaxy Leather in Garlic Lane - but be careful of their Bali time.
Lots of other things I could tell you, but did not want my JBR to become boring. I definitely did overpack, so next time will just take underwear and buy everything else as required, all other clothes and toiletries especially. Am madly saving for my next trip in December. Cheers.
