If you have a stick thing - I too dont know the correct name - I just call it a modem but it takes a SIM like in a phone. As long as it is unlocked you can buy a SIM for it here. if not you can buy a modem from about Rp350,000 - 500,000.
An XL SIM costs Rp100,000 for internet and is good for one month. if you need to use it longer just load another Rp100,000 of credit on to it before the month is up. Other suppliers offer other deals.
