it's like comparing apples with oranges! The Ugly Duckling in my opinion, represents good honest value for what you pay. It was Rp350.000 when we stayed in January. I make that about $Au38 for two including breakfast!!! The rooms are old, that's true but they are clean and the vibe is really nice. Like losmen with hotel facilities and the breakfast was really good. Live music on Sunday arvo and I think 2 nights. Nice friendly atmosphere. My granddaughters fell in love with the place and did not want to leave when it was time to move on to Legian.
You are asking to compare resort type hotels with a small budget price hotel. For me Besakih was too big and impersonal. I would stay at the Ducks again in a flash.
