There is a place in the road (Jalan Dewi Sita) that runs from the soccer field in Monkey Forest Road to Jalan Hanoman. It's on the left, down the hill, close to Gaia Restaurant (which I do NOT recommend at all).
That's be a good place to look. I don't think there are many leather workers in Ubud as this guy won't bargain much & his prices are pretty high. Still, a good place to start. Places in Kuta-Legian would be cheaper, probably, as it's more competitive.
I can't recommend anywhere but it seems that some people have had good outcomes using places in Garlic Lane. Hopefully, you'll get more info. If not, search the archives &/or post again.
